  • BERNER OBERLAND HIKE, SWISS ALPS

After V.I.R.U.S Festival I went back to Zurich, hitchhiked down to the mountains (which took forever - the Swiss are really not into hitching) and hiked for 8 days in the Berner Oberland region of the Swiss Alps. Hiking alone meant that my pack was heavy and the weather was quite hot, most days I got up before sunrise, walked for the morning, and then slept in the shade during the hottest part of the day. Taking it slow ended up meaning that I only covered about 90km, but the scenery was varied and beautiful the whole way. Because Swiss hikers all seem to stay in the expensive Alipe Club refuges, I had the mountains to myself every morning and every evening :)
